Brian has always been interested in the power and mystery of the healing process and the innate wisdom of the body. He enjoys facilitating the journey to a stronger sense of connection, communication, and balance within–an interest that has informed his approach to massage and bodywork for twenty years.

As an undergraduate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he majored in Sociocultural Anthropology and studied indigenous healing systems. Brian began his massage training in 1999 while working on staff at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, New York. After moving to Nashville to start a family, he graduated from the Natural Health Institute for massage therapy in 2003.

In 2009, Brian completed an intensive three-year Healing Science Training Program with The School of Healing Arts at The Estuary in Nashville.

Beginning in 2018, he worked on staff as a massage therapist at the Osher Center for Integrative Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as part of an integrative healthcare team. During this time he was involved in an implementation science study of MABT for patients with chronic pain. In 2020 he was certified in Mindful Awareness in Body-Oriented Therapy (MABT) and has served as an assistant instructor and practitioner.

In 2023, Brian re-entered private practice to focus on MABT and other somatic bodywork approaches. He completed certification as a Transforming Touch practitioner (Transforming the Experience-Based Brain) in early 2024. In the fall of 2024, he will be a speaker at the national convention of the American Massage Therapy Association.
